MASTER OF CEREMONIES (MC)
A Master of Ceremonies (also used in its abbreviated forms MC or emcee) or compère is the official host of a staged event or similar performance.
An MC usually presents performers, speaks to the audience, entertains people, and generally keeps the event moving.
The term originates from the Catholic Church. The Master of Ceremonies is an official of the Papal Court responsible for the proper and smooth conduct of the elegant and elaborate rituals involving the Pope and the sacred Liturgy.
He may also be an official involved in the proper conduct of protocols and ceremonials involving the Roman Pontiff, the Papal Court, and other dignitaries and potentates.
RINGMASTER/WHIP
The duties of a ringmaster/whip is to organize all elements of ‘back stage’ at boxing events, such as handing out the MBC recognised gloves that the boxers will wear in competition, as well as ensure the boxers know when they are due to be ready for the ring walk.
The ringmaster/whip role is slightly more complex than the statement above may sound, as the ringmaster/whip is the person who ensures that all areas of back stage at an event are in place as well as ensuring the boxers are as relaxed as possible before they fight.
